Competitive
- HAST welcomes swimmers of all ability levels. Competition is based on age and ability.
- Hast is a sanctioned USA Swim Team and a member of Minnesota Swimming, Inc.
- HAST competes against other USA Teams within the Twin Cities area, throughout the state and the Midwest.
- HAST is a non-profit corporation, which is coach directed and supported by a parent board.

HAST Practices
Practices are held at the Hastings MS Pool at 1100 Pine Street. They are scheduled Monday through Friday evenings during the school year. During the summers the main practice is outdoors in the mornings at the Hastings Family Aquatic Center. Check the Calendar to see the current practice schedule.
HAST Seasons
The Fall/Winter (short course) season begin in September and run through early March. The Spring/Summer (long course) season begins in mid-April and runs until late July or early August, depending on the ability level. Each season ends with various championship level meets for qualifying swimmers.
Practice Groups
Novice
Novice swimmers are 6-10+ years old and are in their first season/year with HAST. Novice swimmers compete in local meets when they are ready. Practice: 1 hour/day, 2-3 times per week Minimum skills level: Able to swim 50 yds of freestyle/ backstroke, has concept of breaststroke and butterfly, and can dive.
Age Group Age group swimmers are 8-10+ years old and show enough proficiency to compete in swim meets. The emphasis is on proper stroke mechanics and technique. Practice: 1hour/day, 3-5 days per week Minimum skills level: Able to swim all 4 strokes legally for at least 25 yds.
Pre Senior Age group swimmers are 11 years or older. They are ready to compete in longer races such as the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Freestyle. There is a continued emphasis on technique, while introducing different training methods. Practice: 1.5hours/day, 3-6 times per week Minimum skills level: Able to swim 4 legal strokes, turns and starts.
Senior
Senior swimmers are 13 years or older. They have the background and desire to train to compete at the state, zone and national level. There is a continued emphasis on technique. Practice: 1.5 - 2 hours/day, 4-9 times per week Minimum skills level: Training geared to develop well rounded swimmers who can compete in all events offered in their age group.
